My Parents Come To Boston

Grandma and Grandpa were able to come out and stay with us just in time for Atticus' birthday.  I was so happy they could come because that's one thing I'm feeling sad about being so far away from family, is missing out on birthdays and the like.  Plus it gave us a great excuse to get out and explore places we hadn't been able to do yet.  (Even though it was freezing!)

We cram packed Boston touristy things the first day
I don't even know what this is.
Frog playground.  Atticus was trying to pull a fish out of his bucket.
 Beacon Hill
And Acorn Street.  (One of the oldest, and most photographed streets in the U.S.)
Some colonial dude
Because we have class and are always appropriate.
I love all the old burial grounds we see daily.  These were at Granary Burying Ground.  I love looking at the designs of the tombstones and trying to find the oldest stones.
There is a memorial to Revere right next to this but this is his actual stone.
Can I tell you how weird, cool, and sad I find it that they've turned the spot of the Boston Massacre into a train station?
The sculptor who did the Paul Revere statue also did the Angel Moroni atop the Salt Lake City Temple.

We were very touristy and ate at the Cheers Bar before leaving
Stopped off at the temple to see it and then awkwardly had to go in and use their waiting room bathroom, in our jeans.
Day 2 Atticus had preschool and then we went up to Salem.
My 10th great grandfather, William Williams, once owned the land that the Witch House in Salem is now built on.  However, one day his pigs got out and into the neighbor's cabbage.  When he couldn't pay the fine, the judge took the land from him and built his home, today's Witch House, on it.  We even went in and talked to the lady about it and she was excited that we knew that bit of history, as most do not.
My dad knocking.
We are being scared of witches.
Inside The Witch House and Atticus' scared face.
Williams Street was named for our direct ancestors as well.  We're cool like that.
The night before his birthday and he laid out what he wanted to wear for the big day.  So adorable!
Day 3 was Atticus' 5th birthday!  Happy birthday Ya-Ya!
We went back quickly with Grandpa to The Old North Church.  "One if by land..."

Getting a little tired of pictures.
Birthday cupcakes (and cannoli's) at Mike's Pastry.  They even indulged us as we lit a candle and sang.
Last up before we took my parent's back to the airport that evening was lunch in Harvard Square.  And Atticus was totally cool with eating at the bar for his fifth birthday.
