6 months

So you wouldn't know it to look at the teeny kid, but he is already 6 months old!  Yes, seriously teeny.  He's gained barely a pound since his 4-month appointment and is only a few ounces past doubling his birth weight.  But he is so happy and excited about everything.  And oh boy is he a mover and a talker.  The kids babbles and yells non-stop.  He thinks he's hilarious!  He also decided to love tummy time now and he will try real hard to move himself closer to things, pulling his legs up underneath himself, but then he doesn't quite know how to make it work.  That's fine with me.  I am not ready for a crawler.  He did however, after months of straining his neck and shoulders in in effort to sit up, has managed to do so on his own.  Just one day he thought, "I'd like to not lay down anymore".  It started in the bath and then about two days later he just stayed up when I let go of him and he's hardly fallen down since.

He's discovered spit bubbles and how to blow raspberries and they go hand-in-hand with all of his babbling.  He loves it when you blow raspberries back.  And he really loves to blow raspberries while eating (solids AND nursing(...))  He's picked up on a few other weird oral habits this month too.  For a few days he was constantly sucking on his bottom lip.  It made him look like an old man.  He also takes after my dad by both chewing his tongue and doing this squeaking thing my dad does when stressed by pushing air between his back gums.

He started to really be fascinated by faces.  He loves to just touch faces and noses.  My favorite are the mornings when I go get him up and he'll just put my face in his hands and stare at me fascinated.  It is so adorable.  He also has discovered other's hair.  He's always grabbed at hair but not really intentionally.  Now he'll see my hair hanging down or lying flat and just reach to touch it, dropping anything else that had been keeping his attention.  He even tried eating a girl's hair at church.

He still loves bath time and will splash and play until his face is dripping.  He also loves food.  He still eats about 30 ounces of milk each day plus cereal in the morning (we're talking like 4-5tbls dry mixed with 2 oz of milk, trust me, that's a lot) and at least a jar of baby food at night.  He's freaks out with excitement just seeing a spoon or his bumbo chair because he knows what's coming.  And even if he just chowed down, if he sees a bottle he'll try to drink from it and cries if nothing comes out.  You'd think the kid would grow with how much he tucks in.

His very favorite thing this month though is his daddy.  He is always so excited to see him.  When he hears the garage open he gets excited.  Anytime I'm feeding him, if he hears Dan's voice, he stops to look for him. Over and over.  Then he's too busy smiling at him to remember he was busy eating.  He also stares at the spot he last saw his dad if Dan leaves the room.  It's so cute.

Oh another wonderful thing.  I can now eat dairy, and chocolate to my stomach's delight.  And the doctor thinks we can try weening him off his reflux medication.

His 6-month stats:
Length: 26 inches--33rd percentile
Weight: 14 lbs 5 oz--4th percentile
Head Circumference: 16.6"--12th percentile

 24 Weeks
 25 Weeks
Atticus white-trashed it up at the Box Elder Fair and Rodeo this month.

The kid loves to eat.

One of his new favorite faces to make.
He's a near-expert sitter,
 An excellent raspberry spitter,
And he thinks he wants to crawl
Also, he lately finds his pants and socks hilarious.
He's got the most excellent facial expressions.
 Loves him some books.

He loves the grass.  He could play in it for hours.
He doesn't take a binky to sleep but he sure loves to chew on them (sometimes two at a time) and talk to them while he does.  Kind of like my dog Cottonball who'd shove rocks in his mouth and bark.
He finally takes actual naps.  1-2 hours at a time.  Not so much sleeping through the night.  Generally wakes up twice wanting to eat.  If there's other times we make him put himself back to sleep.

Squash

Atticus loves to eat.  He gets very excited at the site of a bottle, bib, spoon, or bumbo.  He opens his mouth for more before swallowing his last bite quite often.  Until yesterday he'd only had cereals.  He was so excited to eat, it took him until about halfway through to notice this was a new taste.  And despite what it looks like, he got quite upset when it was gone and took the spoon in hopes for more.  I give you-Squash:
