High Chair

Atticus loves his new high chair and I love it even more.  He can no longer turn clear around and get distracted to the point of not eating.  Nor can he reach the carpet/couch/floor/etc, with his squash-covered hands like he could in his Bumbo chair.  It's still way too big for him but it rocks.  I am aware this is a pointless blog but I was loving on these pictures, as you will too.

That would be a layer of green beans on top of a layer of banana on top of a layer of carrots.
 Sinking lower.

Stop taking pictures and feed me.
 Exasperated sighs/raspberry blowing.
This boy loves him a tray sucking.

A Boy And A Bath (Or two)

So Atticus has always loved the bath.  Even when he was a few days old, he would calm right down if we stuck his hair under the running water.  He squeals and laughs whenever he's in the bath.  He loves splashing and kicking and doesn't care one bit if he gets water in his face.  He'd especially love watching me pour water out of his cup from high above his head.  He'd try to catch it or just stare at it in amazement.  It got to the point recently though that because he could sit up, he was no longer content to just lean back in his baby tub to get his hair rinsed.  He wanted to sit up and peek over the sides, or try to reach things outside of his little tub.  So we put him in the big boy bath.  Since he loved the water pouring from his rinse cup.  I stuck him down in front of the faucet as the tub filled.  He was making his usual noises (I thought) while watching the water pour down, and then a sob escaped and he looked back at me crying.  He was terrified of the water pouring out.  As soon as I turned it off, he was fine and loved skootching all over the big tub.  But the next night was the same.  Whimpers, sobs, and tears if the water was running. (and a few nervous looks in that direction even after it was turned off.)  We're mean parents and thought it was kind of funny.  So night two I had the camera ready

This is right before the tears and the reaching for me to take him out.
The rest of the time he was calm, but nervous.  And I love this picture.
Yes, that was his dinner spoon to calm his nerves and provide the comfort his
picture-snapping mother was withholding.

This was the beginning of night 4's big-boy bath
Yep.  Just like that, he couldn't get enough of it.  He'll skootch clear from the other end of the tub if I turn the water on.  He didn't even mind the other day when he did a dive, face first, into the running stream.
He gets so excited in the bath.  If I splash the water, he'll immediately start splashing too.  He gets so excited he doesn't know what to play with.  He'll quickly go from the running water, to splashing, then back to the water, then to his rubber duck, then splash some more, while squealing and screeching the whole time.  It's hilarious to watch.

Dinner messes and a loin cloth.
Loves his ducks.  He'll try desperately to get them by pushing with his legs.  When his back is to the faucet, this just causes him to scoot backwards instead of toward the toys.
He loves lying down in the water too.  He'll wiggle around and turn his head so his eye gets in the water, and then tries it again just to make sure he gets the same result.  Today he turned his face into the water until his eye was half submerged and his mouth touched.  I don't know where he gets it from.  I still hate putting my face in the water.
He also loves the sounds he hears when his ears are under water.  He thinks the running water sounds hilarious but if I tap my fingers on the tub he goes very still to listen.
Cutest kid ever.  And tubby time is getting longer and longer.  Because even if I drain the tub, he still doesn't want to get out.

Fall Things Part II

We took Atticus to a corn maze.  He fell asleep about 6 minutes in.

 Hanging On

 And...asleep
 Awake again
Watching all the kids playing on the bales of hay
Jumping onto some nasty old mattresses.

I'm unsure what is happening with my bangs.  Also, by this point he was so grumpy he just wanted to play with the hay.

Fall Things Part I

So I had a glorious three days off from school last week and I spent every bit of them hanging out with my son.  He's kind of great.  The first day we had off, we headed down to visit Grandma Nae, and Natalie and her kids.  I had a lot of fun.  We hung out at Renee's house for a while just playing with the kid.  Atticus was in a really good mood and there was plenty of squealing and talking.  Then we met Natalie and her boys, Eli and Crew, plus her new little girl, Lydia for some lunch at Kneaders.  I'd only been to Kneaders for breakfast and thought meh.  But lunch was delicious.  Then we headed over to Gardner Village.  I'd never been there before and it was fun.  They had it all decked out for Fall and it was really cute.  We shopped a lot and I wanted all of the clothes, plus all of the decorations for Halloween and Christmas.  The boys ran around finding all the different witch mannequins they had set up around the shops.  It wasn't anything crazy exciting or anything but it was just such a great day.  Oh, and I almost forgot the best part of the day...  On the way down, I picked up Renee in down town Salt Lake where she'd dropped off her car to be worked on.  When we made it to her house in South Jordan she realized her house key was with her car key.  So the two of us totally broke in to her house.  It was great.

Trying to get two little boys plus a baby to sit still and look at the camera doesn't work.
Crew trying to get Atticus to turn his head and look
Crew was excited to look at the picture
Eli: "Um excuse me, Atticus, look at the camera."
Crew: "Atticus, look over there at the camera."
 Feeding the ducks.
Eli was brave.  Crew said he was just going to sit far away from the witch.
Atticus should have been doing more of this.
 Love these boys.

Poor Grandma Nae had the sun in her face.
I don't know how we managed to make this one look so good.
 The flying witch.
Atticus will suck on just about anything.  Crew was just thrilled to be getting "kisses" from him.

6 Month pictures

So Heidi over at Monkeyface photography does these awesome mini sessions every once and a while for pretty cheap (all things considered).  She's the same person who did his newborn shots which were amazing, so I jumped at her offer for outdoor mini sessions right as Atticus was turning 6 months old.  He was being funny that day.  He'd smile a ton until he saw the camera.  Then he'd just stare.  And he was loving chewing on his bottom lip.  Here are a few of my favorites.  And by a few, I mean like 20 of them...
