Fall Things 2017

A bunch of random photos of things we've been up to so far this fall.
Getting them ready to share a room, so on the weekends, they have slumber parties.  (They don't need to share a room, but I feel like they're spoiled and need to deal with a shared room for a few years.)  Bunk beds to come.
There are a lot of projects for the house.  Things to fix and do, but this was my first priority home improvement project: hanging a tire swing in our oak tree out back.  It is so dreamy and brings me so much happiness to see my babies out there sailing through the air.
We have a little road/shared driveway coming up to our house.  It ends at our wooded conservation land and our house is to the left.  The house to the right is abandoned.  There is seldom an empty lot to be found out here.  So people who want a new house have to redo existing ones.  Sometimes completely.  (I've even seen houses up on stilts while they redo them)  The abandoned house next to us was previously owned by a couple who had tried to redo it by themselves but then lost steam and sold.  It is now owned by a young couple, but because of how much work there is to be done and the fact that there are a few feet of water in the basement, they're not sure they'll redo it either.  In the meantime, we affectionately call it "The Meth House" and it looks like this:
See the toilet in the garage?  There's also a pile of junk next to the garage that includes this large jug of...moonshine?
A friend of Dan's from high school. Lindy, was out visiting Boston and we met up with her in Concord at The Old North Bridge (The shot heard round the world) and then we visited Orchard House, where Louisa May Alcott lived.
Lindy gave them this frisbee and Atticus thought it was the best thing ever.
Jonny being a stinker about posing with me at Orchard House.  I loved Little Women (and Little Men and Jo's Boys) when I was in elementary school.  They were some of my most favorites.
Atticus so proud he could climb a tree.
A perfect view out my kitchen window.
Our ward started a kid's hiking club.  Not really mountains around here so it's more like Nature Walk Club, but we try to go every week and love it.
Jonny selfies.
Jonny has been loving playing baseball.  She always makes me be a "Red Sot" and she plays for the "Yantees"  This is her face to intimidate the pitcher.
We went to the weirdest restaurant in our new town.  They had great reviews and a kid's menu, but it was clear when we got there, they weren't used to catering to anyone who didn't have an AARP membership.  They were even setting up to play some weird old person game as we were leaving.  Not Bingo, but something weird.  While we were there everyone was very friendly and excited that kids were there.  People even came out of the kitchen to look at us.  And all the old people knew each other.
Anyway, the food was not so great and Dan ordered a whole lobster.  He had no idea how to eat it and looked it up.  His reaction to the video was hilarious.  And it's gross by the way, if you didn't know.

We had a little housewarming barbecue.
Jonny with my favorite little boy in the ward that isn't mine, Jack.
She spends a lot of time snuggled on Atticus' bed while he's at school.
She's also pretty content to laze around and snuggle her animals.
My ham of a daughter hanging out in the hammock with me.
And doing my hair.  (There's a lot less Atticus with him at school all day.)
Taking Atticus' example in setting out her clothes for the next day.
A liked this church as we were out driving.  Had to take the picture on the go.
He called me into his room to see that he was an eyeless pirate.  He even had the theme song from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride playing.
They spend a lot of time reading together.
